Happy Birthday Card 2008

Currently Listening To: Honor Thy Father by Dream Theater

I mashed up a birthday card for my friend’s 21st birthday, much props to PSDTuts.com for the design idea but I think it came out really well. Output of the print came out a little lighter than expected, the background colour was closer to a light grey than the deeper purple seen in the design above (Click thumbnail for full size) but it looked ok on card.

I was tempted to use the On The Town quote for this, but then quickly realised that hundreds of people will have done this already. Good film though, I’d recommend it- the musical and dance stylings of Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly? Gotta be good.

So a few days ago my parents decided to spring on me a late 21st birthday present- a long weekend trip to New York City! I’m usually not one to go on last minute trips, my weeks are usually pretty planned out and if I take a weekend off I need to let work know a few months back. So it was a surprise to hear that they had already gone in and chatted with one of my managers a few weeks back to let me have it off…

So yes, I have gone and bought the Dorling Kindersley New York book with the hope that I’ll be able to do the quoted “Four Day New York Trip” in the three and a bit days that I’m there, also trying to fit in the New York Comic Con at some point. One of my favourite Japanese artists T.M.Revolution is also playing in the evenings which I have to see. Yes, I am a big JPop fan.

Hard Drive 3

The black sheep of the family

The third hard drive joins the ranks of my little collection today, further increasing my storage space for uh, work. That’s right, just work. All my essays take up hundred of gigabytes each…really…

Another boon with this drive is that I’ve been able to create a 120gb partition for Time Machine. While part of me simply wants to be able to have the pretty effect of going backwards in time, it’ll be great to keep everything backed up automatically to one place rather than dotted around the other two hard drives. I’m thinking mostly of my University work and downloads which tend to go missing quite easily…

Time Machine Does it's thing         Wooshy Goodness!

Not a lot to do with it for the time being, give it a week or so and it’ll look even bettarrr.
And I know time machine has been massively covered before and I’m all outdated but this is the first time I’ve had it set up on my own machine and not at work or otherwise.

I wanted to keep the original “Hello World” article for history, pretty much because I always do when I start a blog. Might be a bad idea as all my previous blogs haven’t turned out so well. Such is life.

Recently I did a filming shoot in Uni, in a toilet. It was some of the most fun I’d had all year, and to test out this blog here’s a photo. Nelson’s blurry, but oh well.

Here’s a bit of music as well. Testing out WP 2.5 is fun. Now for plugins.
